This is a Portrait Artwork of a Woman Profile Portrait Painting, young woman, and of XIX Century.

This girl oil painting on wood has an original gold leaf frame realised in the 1800s.

The antique portrait painting is dated 1894 and signed L. Printemps French painter of landscapes and portraits.

Léon Printemps (1871-1945) learns to paint thanks to his uncle, the sculptor Jules Printemps (1851-1989).

In the studio of Gustave Moreau, a symbolist painter, he began his career. He begins to exhibit in 1893 at the "Salon des Artistes Français".

Over time he met many avant-garde artists, Henri Evenepoel, Rouault, Matisse.

He became a Symbolist painter in fact he exhibited some paintings at the "Salon de la Rose-Croix in March 1897".

Many were the awards during his career, silver medal at the "Exposition Universelle de Paris" in 1900,

many honors and finally in 1942 the "Prix Frattini". Léon Printemps made many female portraits, in fact famous people requested it

like the princely of Waldeck and Prince Youssoupoff. Many French museums preserve his works: Châlons-sur-Marne, Cholet, Compiègne and others.
