MARINE PAINTING, SWAN PAINTING, SEASCAPE PAINTING, EARLY 20TH CENTURY. (QM439)

 

This is a Marine Oil Painting, which represents a Marina with a Swan and a small sailboat. 

This oil painting on canvas has an original lacquered wood frame realised in the 1900s.

The work represents a view of the Mediterranean Coast. The painting and the frame are restored.

The 20th century painting is dated 1911 and signed bottom right by C. Font, a French painter who painted mainly nudes of women,

landscapes, seascapes and still life paintings. Constantin Font (1890-1954) was born in Auch, his master was Fernand Cormon.

He received several medals, including a gold medal in 1922 and a silver medal in 1921.

He exhibited regularly at the Salon Des Artistes Français in Paris and was awarded the important 'Prix De Rome' in 1921.

The antique painting bears a label on the back with the words 'Hommage de Constantin Font prix de Rome atelier de Cormon rue de Rome'.

So, we can consider this Marine Painting, Marina with a Swan Painting, Seascape Painting, Oil On Canvas, Early 20th Century,  a beautiful painting.
