The Antique Sculpture proposed here is in Terracotta. Earthenware sculpture. A woman dressed in veils.

Original eary 20th Century patina. Signed Cormier, French sculptor. The work is signed in its base.

Joseph Emmanuel Cormier dit Joé Descomps (1869-1950), as seen written on the back on the base of the terracotta sculpture.

Cormier is a French sculptor who studied with Louis-Auguste Hiolin. He was a very versatile sculptor, he was also a goldsmith, born in Clermont -Ferrand.

He exhibits regularly at the "Salon des Artistes Français" and makes many of the Art Nouveau objects, including jewelry, sculptures in bronze, stone and ceramics.

In the 1920s he focused more on small-scale sculptures, mainly in bronze and ivory in the Art Deco style.

After the First World War he worked under the name of Descomps-Cormier or Cormier.

So, we can consider that this Antic Sculpture, Terracotta, Veiled Woman, Cormier dit Joé Descomps, Early 20th Century a beautifull statue.
