LARGE ANTIQUE PAINTING OF GLADIOLI AND WILDFLOWERS, OIL ON CANVAS, FLORAL STILL LIFE, ART DECO (QF788)
This antique floral painting is a refined floral still life, featuring a rich bouquet of cut flowers arranged in a light-coloured vase.
It is an oil painting on canvas dating from the early twentieth century, in the Art Deco style. The composition stands out for its abundance of flowers
and harmonious colour palette, featuring red and orange gladioli, white wildflowers, and small blue and violet blossoms intertwined with green
leaves and slender stems. The artist uses fluid, textured brushstrokes to convey the texture of the petals, the freshness of the foliage, and the variety of
floral forms. The light enhances the colours and gives the composition depth.
This antique flower painting, a floral still life signed in the lower right-hand corner by Maurice Decamps, a French painter, depicts a richly coloured
arrangement of cut flowers.
Maurice Alfred Decamps (1892–1953) was born in Paris and painted landscapes, although he was particularly known for his floral compositions.
His teacher was Pierre Montézin, and in 1913 he began exhibiting his works at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris. Throughout his career, he
received numerous awards and honourable mentions. In 1926, he received the Prix de la Savoie; in 1927, the Société des Paysagistes award; in 1929,
the Raigecourt-Goyon award; and finally, in 1938, the Justin Claverie award.
The painting is presented in an antique carved and lacquered wooden frame, in the Montparnasse style, characteristic of the early twentieth century.
Both the antique frame and the oil painting have been carefully and professionally restored.
This antique French floral painting depicting cut gladioli, an oil painting from the twentieth century, belongs to the Bisgart Collection and can be
