The painting, dated 1885, is signed in the bottom left, Charles Sim Mottram, a British painter who painted mainly seascapes.

Charles Sim Mottram was active from 1876 to 1919 and was a member of the 'Socity of British Artists'.

From 1876 he started exhibiting at the 'Royal Academy' and especially at 'Suffolk Street'.

He participated in the 'Exposition Universelle' in Paris in 1884 where he was awarded a bronze medal.

Active painter in the 19th century.  In the frame there is a label with the name of the artist and the place

painted by the artist 'Cornish Coast'.
