Cécile Bougourd (1857-1941) was the only woman to play an important role in the first exhibition of the

Tunisian Salon and between 1904 and 1914 at the French 'Salons de la Société des Peintres Orientalistes'.

From 1914 to 1938 she exhibited at the 'Salon Des Artistes Français' and became a member.
