Nude Woman Painting, Pierre Guinegault, French Painter, Reclining Female Nudes, XX Century. (QN787)
FEMALE NUDE PAINTINGS, PAINTINGS OF A RECLINING NUDE WOMAN, OIL ON CANVAS, 20TH CENTURY (QN787)
The Female Nude Paintings category features a 20th-century painting of a nude woman, executed in oil on canvas.
It depicts a beautiful young nude woman reclining. The painting portrays a nude female figure lying on a bed, resting on soft fabrics in ivory and sage
green tones. The woman is depicted in a relaxed, natural pose, with her head resting on a pillow, her eyes closed and her body stretched horizontally
across the canvas. A light white garment gathered around her hips and a dark bracelet on her wrist complete the composition.
The colour palette, combining warm skin tones, delicate greens in the background and light shades in the fabrics, creates an intimate and peaceful
atmosphere. The soft brushstrokes lend harmony to the figure, highlighting the study of the human body and the subtle modelling of light.
The painting retains its original lacquered wooden frame, contemporary with the artwork.
The work is signed in the lower right-hand corner by Georges Guinegault, a French painter known for his figurative works, female nudes, landscapes and genre scenes.
Georges-Pierre Guinegault (1893–1983) was born in Rennes, where he began his artistic training at the École des Beaux-Arts de Rennes.
In 1912, he received an honourable mention in a decorative composition competition, and in 1913 he won a prize in the same field, demonstrating
the early development of his artistic talent. He subsequently moved to Paris, where he continued his studies and became a pupil of the engraver and
painter Eugène Delâtre.
During his years in Paris, he frequented the artistic circles of Montparnasse, establishing his studio in the area. In 1933, his studio was located on
rue Dieulafoy. Guinegault was a representative figure of French painting in the first half of the 20th century.
The painting and its frame have undergone careful, professional restoration.
This female nude painting, representative of French art, is an example of a reclining female nude, French figurative painting and 20th-century oil painting
on canvas.
