carnations and dahlias, executed in oil on canvas dating from the early 20th century.
A delicate French floral still life, depicting a bouquet of carnations and other ornamental flowers
in shades of white, pink, red, yellow and orange.
The corollas, painted with rapid, richly textured brushstrokes, create a vibrant and natural ensemble,

The work is signed at the lower right “P. Savigny”, the pseudonym of Henri Malfroy, a French painter known for
landscapes and seascapes, as well as still life paintings.
Henri Malfroy-Savigny (1895–1944), known as Savigny, was born in Martigues. He was a Post-Impressionist painter.
He studied and trained at the “des Beaux-Arts de Paris” alongside his father, Charles Malfroy, with whom he is often confused.
He regularly exhibited in Paris at the Salon des Artistes Français and the Salon des Indépendants until 1934.
His artistic career developed during the early years of the 20th century, a period in which genre painting and
French floral painting enjoyed considerable popularity.
The antique painting is presented in a gilded frame.
