This is a Marine Oil Painting, which represents a Marina with a beautiful Sailing Ship, Sailboats and Fishermen's Village. 

The work represents a view of the Normandy coastline with sailboats and fishing boats.

It is an oil painting on canvas from the late 19th century, painted in bright, intense colours.

This oil painting on canvas has an original gold leaf frame realised in the XIX century, coeval with the work.

The painting is signed in the bottom right by Tony De Bergue, a French painter of genre paintings,

landscape paintings, seascapes and still life paintings.

De Bergue Tony François (1820 / 1893) was born in Paris, where he studied and was a pupil of Cogniet and Gosse.

He began exhibiting his works at the 'Salon Des Artistes Français' from 1847 and after a long absence started exhibiting again in 1861.

He travelled extensively in the South of France, Portugal and Sicily where he did many studies and works, studying light and its effects.

Some works by this artist are to be found in French museums, including that of Reims.

The beautiful frame and the antique canvas have been cleaned and restored.
